DNA frees another US inmate

Haiti News.Net
Saturday 5th July, 2008

Patrick Waller has become a free man in the US after being wrongly convicted and imprisoned for more than 15 years.

Waller, behind bars since late 1992 for aggravated robbery and kidnapping, after the abduction of a Dallas couple.

He was proven innocent by DNA testing late last year but was only released this week.

He sobbed in the courtroom when after a five minute hearing he was told he could leave.

His release became a foregone conclusion when the Dallas County District Attorney's office announced that DNA evidence had cleared Waller and matched the profile of another man.

The other man and one of his friends confessed their guilt but won't face criminal charges because the statute of limitations has expired.

Waller becomes the 19th man in Dallas County since 2001 shown by DNA evidence to be innocent of the crime for which he was convicted.

DNA frees another US inmate

Why is it that despite knowing about this last year, it takes until now for this poor guy to be released? It is an outrage. Too many prosecutors and police wanting to cover their backsides no doubt. The guy has been in jail for 15 years, and they knew he was innocent last year. I hope he is well and truly compensations, and I hope the wrongful proescution is investigated to see why this man was wrongfully convicted.

The worse thing is that many are put to death each year to protect us! Yet? How many are really innocent?

Trust in God's justice

This is yet another example why we should not judge and allow the state to kill.. They crucified me, but i showed that God has power over death and you should trust in God and God’s justice for he loves us

Whats worse is that he will never be compensated for all those years. A life wasted by the system.......
