AIDS crime shocks Holland

Haiti News.Net

Holland is in an uproar over a crime where victims were lured on the internet then drugged, raped and infected with AIDS.

The group that allegedly raped the victims used date rape drugs and ecstasy to entice victims.

The matter came to light only yesterday, though the alleged offenders were arrested two weeks ago.

Four victims, men aged 25 to 50 from the Northern town of Groningen, have accused three men of rape and premeditated bodily harm.

Ronald Zwarter, the police chief in the northern town where the alleged crimes took place, said two of three men arrested had confessed, explaining the crime as one of excitement.

Another man who allegedly supplied the perpetrators with several litres of the date-rape drug GHB and ecstasy tablets was also arrested.

Officials said the three HIV-positive men invited gay men to private parties.

When the victims turned up, they were allegedly given ecstasy and GHB, leaving them helpless.

The gang risks up to 16 years in prison.
